Stay In or Step Out?

“Mackenzie, do you want to go out for dinner?”, Minseok asked as he took a seat next to me on the couch. I was busy brushing our puppies Benjamin and Whiskey who were snoozing at my feet.

“You know, there is something we are going through right now, something called a ‘PANDEMIC?!”, I said sarcastically.

“I know babe, but let’s go out…”, he whined and started acting all cute.

“Okay, okay, but on one condition – if the place is too crowded, we come back home, araso?”

“Yes, yes”, he agreed happily and gave me a light kiss on the lips.

“So, where are we going?”, I asked, excitement crept up in my voice. We hadn’t gone out for over a year.

“Our favourite panasian place…”

“The Wok-Way?!”

“You guessed right…”

“So, what time should we leave?”

“We can leave right now if you’re okay with it. We’ll drive around for a bit and then head to the restaurant for dinner.”

“Cool”

So, I hurried off to the bedroom to get ready. I picked out a white turtle neck top. It was long-sleeved with a neat cut out at each shoulder. I paired it with skinny blue jeans. And since we were going out after a long time, I really wanted to wear heels.

I knew just the pair for the occasion – my sparkly rose-gold heels. These shoes could make any outfit look runway-worthy (at least it felt like that to me)

For my makeup, I stuck to the basics – compact, eyeliner and a pink lipstick. But this time I added blush just to give a bit of colour to my cheeks. And since I was having a good hair day, I decided to let it down. I completed my avatar with a spritz of vanilla fragranced perfume.

Once I was ready, I came back down to the living room. Minseok was sitting on the couch scrolling through his phone. He was wearing a white semi-formal shirt and a pair of blue jeans. He completed his outfit with black converse shoes.

His hair seemed a bit different though. His fringe was no longer covering his entire forehead. He styled it in such a way that it looked like he had side-swept bangs.

“Hmm…”

I was a bit loud and caught Min’s attention.

“Wow…”, was all he could say as he looked me up and down a couple of times.

I walked on over to get a better look at his hairstyle. As I was standing in front of him, I patted his hair in place.

“Do you like it?”, he smirked and looked up at me as he was still seated on the couch. Without a warning, he pulled me onto his lap so that I was straddling him. He buried his face in the nape of my neck, “Mmm, you smell amazing…”, he whispered in my ear and gently tugged at my collar and started kissing the length of my neck.

“Min, let’s go”, I said as I tried to get to my feet. But he locked his arms around me and didn’t let me move.

“Min…”, he crushed his lips on mine, not letting me speak.

“Min, we need to leave…”, I said against his lips although I didn’t really want to stop what we were doing.

“May be we shouldn’t go out tonight…”, he said as he pulled away to catch his breath.

I took my chance and wriggled out of his arms and got to my feet.

“Kenzzzieeee…”, Minseok whined.

“C’mon, let’s go. But before that please go wash the lipstick off your face…” I teased him as I pulled him to his feet and nudged him to the washroom. I touched up my lipstick at the mirror in the living room.

After a few minutes, Minseok and I locked the house and stepped out. He held my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine, as we made our way across the lawn to the garage. It felt like our Audi Q7 was waiting to get out onto the road.

“I’m driving”, I said and took out my set of keys and got into the driver’s seat.

Min smiled and went around to the passenger’s side of the car.

“Buckle up babe, speed demon is back”, I joked and revved the engine to life.

Warm and Cozy

It was Saturday evening. As usual, I was a bit gloomy about being halfway through the weekend. Thanks to this pandemic, I felt like the weekends just go by at lightning speed. I miss going out, even if it was just to eat at the mall. But ‘it is what it is’. The highlight of…
